America 250: A Chance for Rediscovering America’s Heritage
America 250: A Chance for Rediscovering America’s Heritage

America’s 250th birthday is a time to remember our past and to look to our future in gratitude. The nation’s leading historic sites tell the American story through place, conveying the richness of our nation’s heritage and the eternal principles that have guided us since those first revolutionaries declared, 250 years ago, that “all men are created equal.”

As America prepares for its 250th Anniversary, more and more Americans are expected to travel across our country to visit many of America’s historical sites. But what will they find when they arrive?

Brenda Hafera, the Assistant Director and Research Fellow in The Heritage Foundation’s B. Kenneth Simon Center for American Studies, joins the show to talk about the creation of The Heritage Guide to Historic Sites.

The guide was put together to help people better understand the sites they may visit, but to grade the historical authenticity, accuracy, and comprehensiveness of the tours, exhibits, and historical resources.
