On January 5, 1776, the Colony of New Hampshire broke free from British rule, and in doing so, delivered the first constitution from Colonial America, proclaiming a new course towards independent governance.

As we mark both our Nation’s and State’s 250th Anniversary,  State Archivist Ashley Miller from the Secretary of State’s Archives Division joins us to discuss the importance of NH’s first constitution, what 2026 holds for exploring more about New Hampshire’s essential contributions to the American Revolution and beyond.
