Police in Newport have arrested the driver of a dump truck, in connection with death of a pedestrian last week. Police say 38-year-old Charles Deraway, of Grantham, has been charged with negligent homicide and second-degree assault after the truck he was operating struck and killed 34-year-old Zachary Shepard. Investigators interviewed several witnesses and reviewed security video from the area ahead of making the arrest.
