BEDFORD, N.H.- A member of Governor Kelly Ayotte’s security team pulled a driver from his burning electric vehicle after it struck a northbound tollbooth in Bedford on the F.E. Everett Turnpike yesterday. State Police say Ayotte’s car had come upon the accident right after it had happened. The Governor and other witnesses at the scene also provided assistance. 51-year-old Yevgeny Mirman of Massachusetts, the driver, crashed the car into the toll plaza just before noon. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No charges have been filed but the accident is under investigation.

There are four state troopers who provide rotating coverage, driving the governor to events and also providing security when she’s out in public and at her State House office. For security reasons, the practice of the New Hampshire governor’s office, past and present, has been to avoid identifying which member of the detail was with the chief executive on any specific shift.
