CONCORD, N.H.- State Health Officials have announced that mosquitos found in Derry and Hampton have tested positive for Jamestown Canyon Virus (JCV) bringing the total number of communities with positive results to six.

This news comes after batches of mosquitos collected from Salem, Exeter, Kingston and Fremont all tested positive.

Officials note that the virus can spread to humans through bites from infected mosquitoes.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, symptoms of the virus may include fever, headache or fatigue but can also result in more severe disease.

There’s no available vaccines or medicine to prevent or treat JCV.
