SWANZEY, N.H.- An investigation is underway after a man from Ecuador swimming with friends drowned in Wilson Pond over the weekend.

Authorities say Sunday afternoon they received a report that a man swimming had drowned and rushed to the scene.

Once on scene a member of the Swanzey Police department rushed into the water in an attempt to save the person in peril and pulled the individual later identified as Fredy Gavilanes Jami,42, from the water.

From there Emergency Personal administered lifesaving measures, before Gavilanes Jami was taken to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, where he was pronounced dead.
