MERRIMACK, N.H.– Authorities say Kyle Barka, 33, has been sentenced to prison for his actions following a motor vehicle accident and SWAT raid that occurred almost two years ago.

On Wednesday Barka was sentenced to a year in the Hillsborough County House of Corrections along with a one-year suspended sentence, and three years of probation.

Police say back on July 15th of 2024 Barka was involved in a motor vehicle accident in which he rear-ended another driver on I-93 South near Exit 4, but officials say when the other person got out of their vehicle to exchange insurance information Braka drove forward and then drove off; however, authorities say Barka ended up hitting someone who was left with minor injuries.

From there authorities were able to track the vehicle back to his residence and demanded he turn himself in only to see the interaction last four hours as Police say Barka would not leave his living room. This led to members of a SWAT team entering the home and Barka being taken down by a K9 officer.

According to court documents, Barka’s attorney says his client’s behavior and problems with the law can be traced back to a difficult upbringing, and the fact that he recently relapsed and began using drugs again.
