MANCHESTER, N.H.- City officials in Nashua say they’re now facing a school funding shortfall after receiving millions less than expected from the state.

Tuesday night Mayor Jim Donchess revealed the city will receive $4 million less in state education aid when compared to last year, which is $2 million worse than expected in the city’s budget.

As for why, State’s Department of Education officials point to declining student enrollment, along with a decrease in the number of students eligible for free and reduced-price meals, as key factors in the change of available aid.
