HOOKSETT N.H.- Town officials are concerned with a growing number of pet owners who are overdue to get their dogs licensed with the town and could begin facing late fees.

Officials noted the deadline to register dogs in the town passed at the end of May.  Officials did approve an extension on June 10 to allow the owners more time.

By a vote of 5-1 Hooksett Town Councilors approved the civil forfeiture process for each unlicensed dog.  The civil forfeiture fee is $25 plus $1 late fee per month beginning last month.

Owners can register their dogs in person at the town offices or online.
