Concord N.H.- House lawmakers have adopted a state budget which features noticeable cuts to higher education, human services, corrections and the courts.
Thursday’s $16.3 billion spending plan not only cuts several hundred million from Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s proposed budget but also avoids new taxes and includes policy changes Republicans claim will improve the lives of New Hampshire residents.
Out of the six-hour plus session lawmakers ended up approving the so-called bathroom ban bill, that allows separation by gender in facilities like public restrooms, jails and sporting events. Following Thursday’s session, the proposal now heads to the full Senate for consideration.
