MANCHESTER, N.H.- Gilmanton police say one person suspected of being armed and suicidal and setting a house on fire is dead.

Authorities say police first responded to a report of an armed induvial threating to kill himself Thursday afternoon, which led to a shelter-in-place order for those living in area Sawyer Lake and a response from the SWAT team.

Witnesses later identified as the property owners told police that the unidentified induvial was seen pouring gasoline on the building and lighting it, before they were able to evacuate the area safely. This resulted in Firefighters being dealt an added challenge as crews were unable to attack the flame because police couldn’t confirm if the man was still armed.

Once police determined the man had died in the fire, Firefighters were then able to extinguish the fire and the corresponding brush fire that arose afterwards.

Authorities have yet to identify the induvial at t the center of the incident, pending notification of family.
