One person is dead after being struck by a train in Claremont

CLAREMONT, N.H.- Authorities are investigating after a person was killed Tuesday when they were struck by an Amtrak train in Claremont.

Investigators say the incident occurred around 6p.m. when an un-identified induvial was walking along the New England Central Railroad tracks and was hit by a passing train.

Amtrak says none of its passengers or crew were injured during the ordeal.

Local police are working with Amtrak to piece together the events leading up to the incident.

In the meantime, authorities are withholding the name of the deceased, pending notification of family.
