NEWPORT, N.H.– Authorities say one person was left seriously injured following a plane crash at the Parlin Airfield.

A little after 1 Sunday afternoon Police and Fire responded to a report of a crash and once on scene found a small private plane in a wooded area off the end of the grass runway.

Authorities note that an off-duty Newport Police Department employee witnessed the crash and assisted Fire personnel in helping to free the pilot from the plane.

The pilot, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to a local hospital.

Their identity is being withheld at this time, but authorities note there was only one person on board.

As for what led to the crash, that’s the subject of an on-going investigation by the FAA.
