KEENE, N.H.- A man is dead following what’s being described as a “prolonged interaction” with State and local police.

According to the Attorney General’s office a little after 3 p.m. police responded to the parking lot of the TD Bank on West Street and were caught in tenses standoff which lasted until about 8 p.m.

The response reportedly came after Police received a 911 call saying there was an armed person inside a silver sedan in the bank parking lot, which resulted in police closing off West street from Island Street to Colorado Street and restricted access around Gilbo Ave.

The incident drew a heavy response from both local and state police, as officials ended up using the services of a K-9 unit, a drone, and a robot and note that the Keene Police department utilized, it’s armored BearCat vehicle.

Authorities say a woman ended up exiting the sedan around 5:15 p,.m., who was then taken away by officers at the scene, while witnesses say they heard gunfire a little before 8 p.m., which led to the end of the ordeal.

Following this incident the Attorney General’s office notes that no officers on site were injured during the days events nor is there any threat to the public.

As authorities continue their investigation, drivers found themselves rerouted Wednesday morning as local police ended  up closing off part of West Street along with a number of nearby streets, but were unable to offer a timeline as to when they would be reopened. Meanwhile the Attorney General’s office says they’ll release additional details when they become available.
