Law enforcement officials are investigating a suspicious death in Canaan last evening. According to the state Attorney General’s office, at approximately 6:15pm Sunday, officers of the Canaan Police Department responded to a home on Sawyer Hill Road to check the welfare of the occupant. Officers found the home’s resident, 67-year-old William Colao deceased. Colao appeared to have suffered from a stab wound.
The investigation is ongoing, but authorities say there is no known threat to the general public
