Wrong-way driver charged after hitting State Police cruiser

BRENTWOOD, NH – Authorities say Nancy Poussard of Newmarket is facing multiple charges after driving the wrong way on Route 101 and damaging a New Hampshire State Police cruiser.

On Monday March 23, 2026, New Hampshire State Police received several reports of a vehicle traveling on Route 101 westbound in the eastbound lanes.

While responding to the area, a Trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver struck the Trooper’s cruiser and continued west on Route 101 East, causing minor damage to both vehicles.

Brentwood Police were able to stop the car and say the driver; 73-year-old Nancy Poussard was transported to an area hospital for a precautionary evaluation.

She’s charged with conduct after an accident, reckless operation and negligent driving.
