The Massachusetts Custody & Gender Transition Clash The dialogue expanded to address a high-profile legal battle involving Southborough, Massachusetts parents Joseph and Arlene Kutzko, whose 17-year-old daughter is currently in state custody under the Department of Children and Families (DCF).

• Parental Claims: The Kutzkos and attorney Vernadette Broyles allege Algonquin Regional High School socially transitioned their daughter without parental knowledge, leading to state intervention after the parents refused to affirm her identity on religious grounds. They assert DCF is seeking to administer high-dose testosterone over their Catholic objections. A judge temporarily stayed the testosterone treatment, and the U.S. Department of Education’s Student Privacy Policy Office (SPPO) has launched an investigation into potential FERPA and PPRA violations by the school district.

Court filings indicate DCF intervened following a January 2025 domestic incident at the family home where Joseph Kutzko was charged with assault and witness intimidation charges were filed against Arlene Kutzko.
